Google Apps for Work
Finding a host to set up my new domain wasn't as straightforward as I'd hoped. Google made it the least painful of any of those out there and, although I doubt I'll ever use any of the MS Office replacement apps, GoogleDrive, the email and the hosting are great. I found using GoogleApps and Wix to be a great combo.
There are so many website creation tools and sites out there, but I've found Wix to be the best. There are some gorgeous templates, it's intuitive and it doesn't require a huge amount of technical skill.
FreeAgent is UK-based developer of online accounting software specifically aimed at freelancers, small business owners and their accountants. I've been using it since I started and have found functionality, look and feel and support to be fantastic. There's an app for doing stuff while out and about. I'm a subscriber, but for each person I refer that signs up both they and I get a 10% discount.
My wife's company, Consulting58 Ltd, and mine, Leadership58 Limited, are using Natasha Fields at Meades Contractors for our accounts. I've been incredibly impressed by the service and support I've received. They specialise in supporting freelancers and contractors and are able to check contracts to see if they fall under IR35.
Setting up as a Limited Company can be tricky so I thought I'd share the things that have made my made life easier in the hope that it helps other people who decide to take the plunge into working for themselves.
